#17961, Holland & Holland, 98 New Bond Street, London: A Holland & Holland Back Action Sidelock Royal 500/450 3 1/4" Nitro Express Finished at H&H October 10, 1904, It has 26" Extractor Chopper Lump barrels with hidden third bite, 1/4 rib with 1 standing & 2 folding, Fold up night sight, London proof at 70 Cordite and 480 grain bullet, Bushed strikers, Double triggers with the front articulated, Long top strap over the comb, Trap grip cap, Shadowline cheekpiece, 14 1/2" LOP over a 5/8 " leather pad with plugs for removal, 10 lbs. 6 Oz., 98% coverage of their ornamental floral and ribbon engraving pattern that has fairly good relief and much more attractive than the typical Royal scroll, No case colors remain but a nice patina, The barrels have been reblacked by H&H in 1929 with the striking as sharp as original and now remain at 95% blue, The stock has been oiled and very well done, The stock & forend now remain at 98%, The checkering is at 98%, The wood remains extremely stout for a gun of this age, The bores are excellent and have 90% of their life left in them. The whole is cased in an original brass cornered oak & Leather trunk with the neat and proper period trade label. Here is a solid H&H Royal in a neat cartridge that will shoot .458" diameter bullets all day long. You can have great shooting fun with 350 & 400 grain light bullets with recoil like a 30-06.
