#2605-0, Griffin & Howe Inc. New York City: A Springfield Actioned G&H Sporter Made 1979 to 1986 as a Commemorative of their early Springfield Sporters built from the mid-1920's and into the 1930's. This piece was sold to the owner as the first gun of the series being #2605-0 and was told at the time of purchase that it was Griffin & Howe's piece used at shows to introduce the series. They were made in 30-06 and 22 Long rifle and about 30 each were finished. It is with a 22" barrel with a G&H band front ramp with a sight protector, Factory mounted Lyman receiver sight, Not drilled or tapped, Model 70 type 3-position wing safety, Two panel teardrop bolt knob checkering, Jeweled bolt and follower, Springfield trigger guard and floorplate, Classic stock to represent the early period of the Springfield open sight Sporter, Ebony forend tip, Wrap around point pattern checkering, Steel grip cap, Period style cheekpiece, Two screw tiedown sling eyes on the stock, 14 1/2" LOP over a 1" Silvers pad, 7 lbs. 14 oz., This gun remains as new with two owners since the day it left the shop at Griffin & Howe. Overall it remains at 98% on both the metal and wood.
