#2291, Britte 20 Bore SxS Game Gun from the Britte Collection out of Liege, Belgium that was completed for Griffin & Howe by Jules Bury, Proved in Belgium in 1973, 26" Dovetail lump Siemens-Martin steel barrels at .629 .016 & .024" (Mod. & Full), 2 3/4" chambers, Hidden third bite, Double triggers, Scalloped action body, Splinter forend with an Anson release, Straight hand stock at 14 3/4 x 1 1/2 x 2 3/8" over a checkered butt, Game gun weight at 5 lbs. 8 oz., 99% coverage of extremely nice floral engraving by D. D. Pirard and signed, Overall condition is at 98% and it appears unfired, The rear barrel lug is stamped by Griffin & Howe, The barrels ring with pronounced chime, The barrels stamped "eB" for Etabblissements Britte, It comes with the original certificate from Britte, It is cased in a nice leather cornered leather trunk, There are about 150 Britte guns that were brought to America by Griffin & Howe, This piece is believed to be the only boxlock they handled. This piece is attractive, trim, light and clean with very nice engraving.  

In about 1999 Luc Vander Borght found in Liege, Belgium 17 finished Over & Under Side-Opening SuperBritte shotguns and 10 SuperBritte barreled actions in the white. Also discovered were 17 H&H style Sidelock Ejector SxS completed shotguns, proofed in Liège in the early 50's along with 105 H&H style Sidelock Ejector SxS barreled actions in the white complete with thousands of spare parts all stored in impeccable condition since the start of WWII. Griffin & Howe was involved from the start, about 2001, and they referred to it as the fine firearms find of the century: the legendary Jules Bury Collection. This 20 Bore #2291 is believed to be the only boxlock they handled.
